When you put a ladder on a wall, you don't want it to be too close or too far away. This will cause the ladder angle to be too steep or the angle to be too shallow. Too steep and you risk falling backwards off the wall; Too shallow and your weight can cause the base of the Indalex ladders to slide out from under you and cause the ladder and your body to fall to the ground. If you have to place the ladder on a slippery surface, make sure you have ladder supports. Wood decks, tile, etc. can be very slippery and a ladder can slide under you if you're not careful. If your indalex platform ladders are in the dirt, you're pretty safe. The legs of most extension ladders can be rotated so that they are dug into the ground, adding extra safety. When you mount the ladder to the wall, make sure it is as close as possible to the area you are working on. You don't want to expand while you work. The farther you have to reach, the greater your risk of falling over. Another rule of thumb is not to be over the top. The farther you go from the ladder, the safer you are. Ideally you want to be at least 3 steps away from the top. Everyone will find that they need a ladder at some point. This could be to reach the light fixture above your foyer ladders or to do your annual gutter cleaning routine.
